Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines –Three persons, including a criminal gang leader and his son, were killed in an alleged shootout with police officers in Sibuco town in Zamboanga del Norte on Friday.

The fatalities were identified as Jamaruddin Alih, alias Boy Takas, his son Nurjin and a certain Danny Kairal.

Superintendent Rogelio Alabata, spokesman for the Zamboanga peninsula police, said members of the Sibuco police were serving a warrant for Alih’s arrest when the suspects fired at them.

Alabata said Alih was the leader of the Jamaruddin Alih Group involved in extortion and killings in Sibuco. He said Nurjin was wanted for murder while Kairal was a drug suspect.

A.45-caliber pistol and ammunition were recovered at the scene.
