ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Government security forces recovered an improvised bomb at the provincial capitol of Zamboanga Sibugay in Ipil town on Thursday night.

Superintendent Rogelio Alabata, spokesman for the Zamboanga peninsula police, said a security guard found the bomb on the ground floor at around 5:10 p.m.

Albata said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

In Midsayap, North Cotabato, security was tightened following Wednesday’s roadside bombing that left two soldiers and a student wounded.

Members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters were believed to have set off the bomb.
