Mild quakes jolt Eastern Samar, Misamis
MANILA, Philippines - Two mild earthquakes hit Eastern Samar and Misamis Oriental yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The first quake, with a magnitude of 3.7, struck 14 kilometers northeast of Salcedo, Eastern Samar at 1:12 a.m. It was felt at Intensity 3 in Salcedo, Eastern Samar and Intensity 2 in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
A magnitude 2.9 quake occurred at 11:02 a.m. Its epicenter was located some three kilometers southwest of Jasaan, Misamis Oriental. It was felt at Intensity 2 in Malasag, Cagayan de Oro.
Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the quakes.
