4 fishermen slain in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Search and retrieval operations have been launched for four fishermen killed in a gun attack in the waters of Basilan on Tuesday. 

Probers said the victims were on a motorized boat between the islands of Langil and Sibago when unidentified men on a speedboat fired at them.

The assailants fled toward an unknown direction.

Police said a dispute over control of fishing grounds could be the motive for the attack.
