MANILA, Philippines - Alarmed by the growing number of deaths due to road accidents yearly in the country, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will conduct a forum on Monday in line with the celebration of the Road Safety Month.

MMDA chairman Emerson Carlos said the forum to be organized by the MMDA-Institute of Traffic Management (ITM) will involve resource persons from local government traffic enforcement offices and private motoring institutions, such as Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).

Also invited to grace the forum will be Director Francis Almora of the Land Transportation Office to talk on the “Issues and Challenges of Law Enforcement in Promoting Road Safety” and Augusto Lagman of the AAP to discuss “Private Sector Assessment of the State of Road Safety.”.

MMDA will also line up several activities during the event at the MMDA compound in Makati City including holding of an exhibition and road safety product display by various organizations and companies.

There will also be a film showing at the agency’s redemption center where drivers can watch Road Safety videos after which an ITM staff will ask questions to the drivers about the video.
