MRT-3 stalls anew due to faulty railing

Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 along EDSA, a major thoroughfare in Metro Manila, halted part of its operations on Wednesday noontime reportedly due to damaged railing.

About a hundred passengers were stranded when the train only continued northbound and southbound operations from Shaw Boulevard station to Taft Avenue station.

The train has ceased running from the North Avenue station to Shaw Boulevard Station and vice versa.

Passengers moved to EDSA, and occupied one lane as they tried to hail buses following the interruption in train operations.

Philstar.com tried to contact MRT-3 General Manager Roman Buenafe but he could not be reached as of posting time.

The train system has been encountering glitches and technical problems the past years, with the Department of Transportation and Communications and train management being criticized for apparent delays in scheduled improvement of services. — Reports from Levi A. So
