El Niño victims receive help
MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – At least 2,000 families affected by the dry spell benefited from a relief operation conducted by the provincial government and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in South Upi town on Saturday.
The office of the provincial government tapped the help of the PRC to avoid being accused of electioneering.
Central Mindanao PRC official Bai Fatima Sinsuat said they provided food supplies to families and residents in Barangay Romangaob.
South Upi is one of 12 municipalities in Maguindanao that were badly hit by the dry spell. The province has 36 towns.
