Magnitude 5.5 quake rocks Laoag City
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Saturday reported a magnitude 5.5 earthquake that jolted Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
The tremor with an epicenter traced 49 kilometers south west of Laoag City occurred at 12:00 p.m.
It was felt at Intensity 5 in Laoag City; Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte; Burgos, Ilocos Sur; Sarrat, Ilocos Norte; Paoay, Ilocos Norte while Sinait, Ilocos and Pamplona, Cagayan experienced it at Intensity 3.
Vigan, Ilocos Sur was the lone area recorded with Intensity 4.
The quake had a depth of 41 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.
In its advisory, Phivolcs said there are no damages reported. However, the bureau is expecting aftershocks.
