2 soldiers killed in Kalinga encounter

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Two Army troopers were slain in an encounter with New People’s Army guerrillas in Kalinga on Thursday.
Pvt. Roderish Azada and Cpl. Joel de Leon of the 50th Infantry Battalion were pursuing the rebels who fled from an encounter in in Sitio Bacras in Barangay Apatan in Pinukpuk town when the incident occurred. They were pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital.
Two weeks ago, three soldiers were killed in clashes with NPA rebels in Balbalan town.
