21 nabbed for gun ban violation

MANILA, Philippines – At least 21 people have been arrested for violating the election gun ban in Cagayan Valley since Jan. 10, a police official said yesterday.

Chief Superintendent Ranier Idio, Cagayan Valley police director, said nine of those arrested were from Isabela, six from Nueva Vizcaya, five from Cagayan and one from Quirino.

A village chief was among those arrested, according to Senior Superintendent Leumar Abugan, Nueva Vizcaya police director.

Emmanuel dela Cruz of Barangay Malasin in Dupax del Norte town in Nueva Vizcaya was collared on Sunday night after firing his 9mm pistol at four people at his farm.
