11 running for Bulacan governor

MALOLOS, Philippines – There are 11 candidates for governor in Bulacan.

Elmo Duque, provincial election supervisor, told The STAR yesterday that the Commission on Elections has not declared any candidate as a nuisance.

Among the candidates are Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado of the Liberal Party (LP), who is seeking reelection; Josefina de la Cruz of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC); Roderick Tiongson of the United Nationalist Alliance and Fernando Dizon of Partido Bagong Maharlika.

Ernesto Balite, Ermalyn Carmen, Clemente de Guzman, Andrew Gonzales, Apolinario Libiran, Jonathan Mendoza and Eliceo Oloroso are running as independents.

There are only three candidates for vice governor: actor Philip Salvador of the NPC, Daniel Fernando of the LP and Wilfrido Villarama, who is running as an independent.

Duque reminded local candidates that the campaign period would start only on March 26.The posting of campaign materials on electrical posts and trees is strictly prohibited, he added.
