Grenade blast hits Isabela mayoral bet’s house

Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY – A suspected grenade explosion hit the residence of a councilor of Isabela on Sunday night. The house helpers of Councilor Lanie Uy initially thought the explosion was from a firecracker, which occurred around 7 p.m., said Chief Inspector Noel Patalittan, Jones police chief. Uy, who is running for mayor of Jones town under the Liberal Party, said that prior to the incident, she received at least three text messages saying her days are numbered. Uy is an ally of former vice mayor Florante Raspado, who was shot dead while presiding over a session of the city council last year. Uy’s bodyguard was also killed in the attack. Nobody was hurt in the grenade attack, but three motorcycles, a Mitsubishi Delica Van and the roll-up door of the house were destroyed.
