LTFRB to summon driver, operator of bus in viral EDSA video
MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on Monday said it will summon the driver and operator of the bus in a video that went viral after it hit traffic barriers along EDSA's southbound lane.
In his Twitter account, LTFRB Chair Winston Ginez said the LTFRB will summon the operator and driver of Joanna Jesh bus that hit the barriers on EDSA as shown on the Facebook post of Top Gear Philippines.
LTFRB said the driver and operator may be penalized accordingly.
A netizen named Ian Santos shared a video with Top Gear Philippines where it was caught racing with another bus along EDSA's southbound lane. It turned left and bumped into the traffic barriers which were scattered on the road.
Based on the video, the traffic barriers where thrown onto the looming traffic but it did not cause any accident to nearby passengers and vehicles.
Santos said that the buses did not stop until their attention was called.
The video caused several netizens to react negatively and demanded the authorities to cancel the license of the bus drivers and operators involved that it reached the LTFRB.
Joana Jesh has not yet spoken about the incident.
Meanwhile, the Philippines National Police Highway Patrol Group and the Metro Manila Development Authority are already investigating the incident.
