2 die in Cagayan mishaps
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A village councilman and a 5-year-old girl died in separate accidents in Allacapan and Aparri, Cagayan on Wednesday.
Councilman Nestor Ponce of Barangay Labben, Allacapan was thrown from his motorcycle when it crashed along the highway in Barangay Centro shortly before midnight.
Ponce died while being rushed to the Far North General Hospital in Luna, Apayao.
Meanwhile, Irish Joy Sentillas died after she and her mother were hit by an Elf truck in Barangay Paddaya Weste, Aparri.
Reports said the victim and her mother were about to cross the road when they were hit by the truck driven by their neighbor Jaymark Awingan.
The victims were about to cross the road when they figured in the accident.
Awingan surrendered to responding police officers.
