Abu in kidnap of 6 men captured

Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Authorities have arrested a suspected Abu Sayyaf bandit tagged in the kidnapping of six members of a religious group in 2002 in Sulu.

Radjan Sahibol Sahiddan, alias Raji, was arrested on Friday along R.T Lim Boulevard in Barangay Cawa-Cawa by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation’s counter terrorism division, regional intelligence division and military intelligence forces, according to Chief Inspector Joel Tuttuh.

Sahiddan’s arrest was based on a warrant issued by Pasig Judge Toribio Ilao Jr. for kidnapping and serious illegal detention with ransom.

The charges stemmed from the suspect’s involvement in the kidnapping of six members of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sulu in 2002.

Two of the victims were decapitated.

Police said they would find out if the suspect was planning to launch attacks in the area, where the activities related to the city’s festival were being held.
