Shipping container loaded with bananas torched

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – A shipping container loaded with boxes of bananas was burned by at least 15 armed men in Lianga, Surigao del Sur on Wednesday afternoon.

The shipping container owned by the DOLE Philippines, was headed for Panabo City in Davao del Norte when it was pulled over by armed men along the highway in Barangay Liafrimco at past 3 p.m.

The armed men ordered driver Roel Rodriguez to get off and poured gasoline on the shipping container.

No one was reported hurt in the incident.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
