Septuagenarian dead, 5 hurt in Isabela mishap

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A 70-year-old grandfather died while five of his relatives were critically injured when a speeding van rear-ended their trailer tractor along the highway in Barangay Villanueva in San Manuel, Isabela on Tuesday.

Prospero Cabanit died while being treated at the Roxas District Hospital, where his wife, Laudemia Cabanit, and relatives Rosemarie Reccion, Marilyn Balinbin, Elmie Azuero and Rogie Galasi were also confined.

The van driver surrendered to responding policemen.
