Sarangani town under state of calamity over diarrhea outbreak

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines  – Sarangani province’s capital town is under the state of calamity due to the outbreak of diarrhea that left four people dead and downed 400 others.

Honorato Fabio, municipal health officer of Alabel, said Barangay Pag-Asa reported 303 patients, a 13-year-old boy died and eight others were hospitalized in Barangay Spring, Barangay Kawas reported two fatalities and Barangay Bagacay had one fatality.

Fabio said water contaminated with Escherichia coli bacteria caused the outbreak.
