MANILA, Philippines - Three workers were killed and at least six others are missing following a collapse of a wall in a coal mining pit in Semirara Island in Antique on Friday.
Antique Gov. Rhodora Cadiao said in an interview with radio dzBB that the incident happened at around 3 a.m.
The governor ordered the operator to stop the operations in the mining pit until the missing workers have been found.
"We are going to go on a full investigation if there was neglect on the part, why there was no caution done after all they know this has happened before and why has it happened again," Cadiao said in an telephone interview with ABS-CBN News.
In 2013, a similar incident occurred in Semirara, leaving five workers killed.
