2 soldiers killed in BIFF attack

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – Suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Datu Piang town killed two soldiers in an attack on Monday.

The soldiers, identified only as Privates Nebrida and Tindac of the 34th Infantry Battalion, were on a motorcycle on their way to the Meta Central Elementary School when BIFF gunmen pulled them over and opened fire.

The bandits also took the watches, wallets and motorcycle of the victims. Salah, a son of the founder of the BIFF, the late Ameril Umbra Kato, reportedly led the attack.
