Wanted CamSur town execs send surrender feelers

Cet Dematera - The Philippine Star

LEGAZPI CITY – Local officials of a town in Camarines Sur, who were ordered arrested on charges of serious illegal detention and malicious mischief, have sent surrender feelers, police officials said yesterday.

Relatives and friends of Mayor Antero Lim, Vice Mayor Alfredo Gonzaga, Councilor Alex Camacho, village chiefs Amy de Vera of Barangay Matacla in Goa, Redito Clarino of Casuna in Tigaon and Sigfredo Tolentino Jr. of Gubat also in Tigaon and 33 others have been contacting the police, said Senior Inspector Alex Penafiel, Goa police chief.

Penafiel said the accused, who were supporters of actor Aga Muhlach in the 2013 congressional elections, have left their respective homes when the arrest warrants were served early this week.

Senior Inspector Dino Ben Regaspi, San Jose police chief, said he also received surrender feelers from the relatives of some of the accused, whom he did not identify.

Regaspi said his wife, Jessilda, who was among those ordered arrested, also went missing.

The arrest warrant stemmed from a case filed by Tigaon Mayor Arnie Fuentebella and several other persons, who said they were prevented from leaving the municipal building for two days during the counting of votes.

The accused were reportedly irked upon learning that Muhlach was losing in the elections. They also pelted with stones the building where Fuentebella and his companions were staying.
