Man slashes wife’s throat

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines  – Authorities arrested a man who reportedly slashed the throat of his wife in front of their children in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte Sunday.

Richard Cagatan, 32, was caught in Barangay Alugijid hours after the incident that occurred at their home in Barangay Abilan, said Senior Inspector Solomon Alemania, town police chief.

Alemania said Cagatan, who was jobless,  had been beating up his wife Christine, 24. The woman was compelled to leave the family last year to work in this city.

Christine returned home on Sunday to get their children, which reportedly angered the suspect. Cagatan reportedly killed her following an argument.

Cagatan is being held at the Buenavista police detention facility.
