Couple gunned down

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A pregnant woman and her boyfriend were shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Cavite City, Sunday night.

Arlene Herrera, 40, and Joar Soanzon, 27, died from several gunshot wounds in the head, chest and shoulders, said case investigator Police Officer 2 Armangel Genuino.

The victims’ bodies were found in Barangay San Antonio at around 8 p.m.

Police recovered eight bullet shells for a caliber .45 pistol and a tricycle owned by Soanzon at the crime scene.

Witnesses said the victims, who were in a tricycle driven by Soanzon, were last seen picking up a passenger in Barangay Ronquillo.

Investigators are eyeing drugs as a motive for the killing.
