Lawyer hurt, secretary killed in Batangas ambush

BATANGAS, Philippines – A lawyer was wounded while his secretary was killed in an ambush in Nasugbu town here Saturday.

Briccio Contreras, 53, and Irish Dimayuga, 20, were in a Toyota Avanza (ZGT-880) on their way to Lian town when they were waylaid along the highway in Barangay Cogunan at around 2:40 p.m., said Chief Inspector Pablo Aguda, Nasugbu police chief.

Dimayuga died at the scene while Contreras was rushed to the Western Batangas Medical Center in Balayan town for treatment of a gunshot wound in the chin.

Aguda said Contreras and his siblings based abroad were allegedly quarrelling over a piece of property.
