Cop gunned down

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A police officer was shot dead by four men in Tayabas, Quezon Friday night.

Police Officer 1 Raymund Portugues of the Lucena police station died while being treated at the United Doctors Hospital due to several gunshot wounds.

Reports said Portugues was walking along a road in Barangay Isabang when he was shot.

Three men – identified as Jayson Arco Abanica, Lizelle Narzabal and Jojo Naredo Estrella – surrendered after the killing, police said.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for a fourth suspect, identified as Omar Gonzales.

Investigators have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
