Missing old woman found dead near Mayon Volcano

MANILA, Philippines - An old woman earlier reported missing by her relatives was founded dead near Mayon Volcano.

Reports identified the victim as Josefina Gravito, 61, of Barangay Lidong, Sto. Domingo town in Albay province.

Authorities said that Gravito could have died from severe hunger.

The local police said that the old woman was reported missing by her relatives last September 16.

A day before Gravito went missing, Philippine Army personnel went house to house, urging residents to evacuate as authorities raised Alert Level 3 over Mayon Volcano.

The family of the old woman is living within the seven-kilometer extended danger zone.
