Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines - Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a taxi driver who sidelines as a pusher during an entrapment operation in Tuguegarao City, the PDEA said on Tuesday.

PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as Vergel Navarro, 50, a resident of Lawasa Road, Holy Spirit, Quezon City.

Reports showed that last September 28, Navarro was arrested by operatives of the PDEA Regional Office 2 after he sold  three plastic sachets containing methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, weighing more or less 15 grams worth P60,000 to a poseur-buyer along Maharlika Highway, Libag Sur, Tuguegarao City.

Also confiscated from the suspect were a  motorcycle, without plate number and two mobile phones.

"He was reportedly supplying shabu to some areas in Cagayan and was finally arrested after months of casing and surveillance operations conducted by our agents,” Cacdac said of Navarro, who reportedly decided to relocate and do his illegal trade in Cagayan.

Navarro will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
