22 roads in 4 regions remain impassable - DPWH

MANILA, Philippines- A total of 22 roads and national highways in four regions affected by Tropical Storm "Mario" remained impassable, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Monday.
In an executive summary of the DPWH's Bureau of Maintenance, the sections of the roads have been closed to traffic due to landslides, flashfloods, fallen electric posts and trees, or have been washed out.
Of the 22 affected by "Mario," eight are located in the Cordillera Administrative Region, nine in Ilocos region, four in Central Luzon, and one in Bicol, the DPWH update said.The DPWH has already constrcuted temporary footbridges along roads that have been washed out by the non-stop rains at the height of the storm.
It has also deployed personnel in flooded roads, doing declogging and installing warning signs.Clearing operations are now ongoing in roads where fallen trees, lamp posts and debris blocked the thoroughfares, the DPWH said.
Meanwhile, the DPWH reported that the partial cost of damage to roads, bridges, and flood control structures in the affected regions was pegged at P273 million.
