PAGASA: LPA near Eastern Samar to bring rains

Louis Bacani - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - A low pressure area (LPA) is expected to dump rains in several parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Monday morning.

In a weather advisory issued at 11 a.m., PAGASA said the LPA located at 270 kilometers northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar will bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Visayas, Mindanao and the provinces of Quezon, Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.

"Residents in these areas and local disaster risk reduction management councils concerned are advised to be alert and take all the necessary precautionary measures and monitor updates on this weather disturbance," PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorm mostly in the afternoon or evening.

Another LPA located earlier in the vicinity of Isabela has dissipated, PAGASA said.

The weather bureau also said light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over Luzon and winds coming from the southwest to northwest will prevail over the rest of the country.

The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.
