Housewife wins P39.2-M lotto jackpot

Perseus Echeminada - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A housewife, who had no money to pay for the operation of her sick child, won the P39.2-million jackpot of the 6/49 Super Lotto’s Aug. 12 draw, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced yesterday.

The 39-year-old winner, who placed a bet for the first time, hit the winning combination 02-09-26-29-42-48, said PCSO acting chairman Jose Ferdinand Rojas II.

He said the woman from Cagayan de Oro City was crying when she received the check at the PCSO’s treasury department at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

Rojas said the woman was on her way to the hospital when she passed by a lotto outlet and bet P20 for a “lucky pick.”
