LPA off Eastern Samar to dump rains over Visayas

Louis Bacani - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The low pressure area (LPA) that was formerly Tropical Depression "Domeng" will continue to bring rains in the Visayas as it nears typhoon-hit Eastern Samar, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was spotted at 60 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar at 4 a.m. today.

In its daily weather forecast, PAGASA said the Visayas will have cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

The Bicol, Mimaropa, Northern Mindanao and Davao regions will experience cloudy skies with scattered light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

PAGASA said moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to west with slight to moderate seas.
