Batangas town’s entire police force sacked
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – The police chief of Bauan town in Batangas, his deputy and 38 of their men have been relieved of their posts following a rash of crimes in their turf.
Senior Superintendent Omega Jireh Fidel, Batangas police director, yesterday said Chief Inspector Telesforo Domingo, who had served as Bauan police chief for only three months, his deputy Senior Inspector Jaime Bejasa, and their 38 men were ordered sent for a retraining program.
Fidel said they would undergo 12-day competence training on crime prevention, discipline and adherence to law at the Batangas police headquarters.
“The entire police force of Bauan was relieved under the Philippine National Police’s three-strike policy,†Fidel said.
There has been a spate of crimes in Bauan in the past few weeks, the latest of which was the ambush-killing of Atlantic Gulf and Pacific Co. general services manager Epher Victorio in Barangay San Roque.
Domingo was replaced by Chief Inspector Arturo Divino as officer-in-charge.
The STAR tried to contact Domingo to get his comment on his relief but failed.
In the past two months, the police chiefs of Agoncillo, Talisay and Sta. Teresita towns were also relieved of their posts for overstaying and failure to address robberies in their turfs.
