ZAMBOANGA CITY - President Benigno Aquino III on Friday visited wounded soldiers and policemen at a military hospital and commended them for defending the security of the city against the Misuari-faction of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

Aquino was accompanied by Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Emmanuel Bautista and Philippine National Police Director General Alan Purisima at Camp Navarro General Hospital (CNGH).

The President checked on the wounded soldiers and policemen before going to the military war room at the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM).

Aquino also handed over boxes of food stuff provided by the business sectors to the ground forces during a brief meeting at the grandstand of the naval headquarters.

“It's not a habit of mine to issue orders without offering a helping hand of my own. I am here to help and sympathize. I don't believe it's proper for me to spend all my time in Manila while you here have to go at it alone. This problem has taken long enough; I've been with you since the beginning, and I'll be here until the situation is resolved,” Aquino told the soldiers and local government leaders.

The President thanked the soldiers for fulfilling their duties with significant advantages against the enemy.

Aquino also visited evacuation centers, where more than 20,000 residents displaced by the MNLF's hostilities are staying.ZAMBOANGA CITY - - President Benigno Aquino III on Friday visited wounded soldiers and policemen at a military hospital and commended them for defending the security of the city against the Misuari-faction of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).
