4.8 quake jolts parts of Ilocos Norte

MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude 4.8 earthquake jolted parts of Ilocos Norte yesterday but there were no reported damage or injuries.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the tremor struck at 10:16 a.m. with its epicenter traced at 21 kilometers northeast of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, where it was felt strongest at Intensity 4. It was also felt at Intensity 3 in Bangui and Intensity 2 in Laoag City. 

A magnitude 3.9 quake, meanwhile, shook parts of Cagayan pro-vince at 10:02 p.m. Saturday, and its epicenter was traced at 42 kms southwest of Calayan town.
