March 17, 2002 | 12:00am
A police colonel identified with former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, now Sen. Panfilo Lacson has been cleared of administrative charges in connection with six supposed stolen vehicles found in his possession in Pampanga.
Chief prober Superintendent Agripino Javier recommended the dismissal of the charges against Senior Superintendent Francisco Villaroman, Central Luzon chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), for "lack of basis."
Javier found out that the six vehicles recovered at Camp Ricardo de Leon in Angeles City, Pampanga were evidence in drug trafficking cases pending in various courts in Central Luzon.
This was contrary to the claim of Chief Superintendent Reynaldo Berroya, Central Luzon police director, that all the vehicles recovered from Villaroman were stolen.
The vehicles, investigation showed, were covered by court orders allowing their safekeeping at the compound of the Pampanga Provincial Mobile Group (PMG) at Camp Ricardo de Leon.
