CINEMALAYA 2014: Eula Valdez looks for the 'spark' in 'Dagitab'

MANILA, Philippines-Eula Valdez believes that she is destined to work on the Cinemalaya 10 entry “Dagitab” (Sparks).

When the film was first offered to her, she had to turn it down because the schedule of the shooting conflicted with her taping for “Dyesebel.”

“E, it so happened na sa script medyo naging available ako, tapos sinabi sa akin baka gusto kong basahin ulit 'yong revised. So 'yong first three pages, sabi ko, 'go!'” Eula said in an interview with D Sweetbox.

The renowned actress was all praises for  the film, especially  its director  Giancarlo Lauro C. Abrahan V, who is making a debut in film making.

She admires his practice where “sinasabi niya 'yong gusto niya. Gusto ko na hinihingi sa akin kung anong gusto makita. Wine-welcome ko 'yon, hindi naman ako 'yong tipong, 'diskarte ko 'yan!'”

“Dagitab” is a story about a couple who lost the “spark” after being together for a long time until the woman is dragged into a scandal involving a young student.  On the other hand, the man falls in love with his research-- a deity (supernatural being) that appears to him as the ghost of an old flame.

Other cast in the film are  Nonie Buencamino, Martin del Rosario, Sandino Martin, Max Eigenmann, Ronnie Lazaro, Frances Makil, and Rolando Inocencio.

The Cinemalaya Film Festival will run from August 1 to 10.
