CEBU, Philippines - Militant transport group Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (PISTON) Cebu Chapter picketed the regional office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) -7 yesterday to condemn the office’s commendation to transport groups that did not join the recent transport strike.

Greg Perez, coordinator of PISTON-Cebu, said that they condemned the acts of LTFRB in the Central Office as well as the office of the Department of Transportation for giving commendation to transport groups that did not join last week’s nationwide strike.

The strike, which created inconvenience among the riding public, was spearheaded by PISTON.

"Nagpa-ila lang gyud nga kaning mga transport groups kasabwat sa gobyerno sa pagpatuman sa jeepney phase out sa atong nasud," said Perez.

LTFRB-7 Director Ahmed Cuizon said that he will also commend those transport groups that did not join the transport strike.

"We will acknowledge the non-striking transport groups during our first Monday flag-raising ceremony next month. We will give them plaques of appreciation," added Cuizon. (FREEMAN)
