Audi PH unveils all-new (and much bigger) A4

2ND OPINION - The Philippine Star

It’s lighter, longer, roomier, quicker, yet more fuel-efficient.

It’s the all-new Audi A4—the latest premium no-longer-compact (it’s almost as long as the previous-generation A6) executive sedan from Ingolstadt. And it’s now here.

More powerful, more efficient, and more intelligent: the new Audi A4 features numerous premium technologies that set the bar higher for its segment. Elegant design blends with innovative technologies, while lightweight construction meets new, efficient drivetrain solutions. As a result, the all-new A4 delivers a truly tech-laden experience.

Powering the all-new A4 is a 2.0-liter, inline-4 turbocharged diesel engine—the sole available power plant for the car’s introduction—that delivers 150 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Mated to a 7-speed, S tronic dual-clutch transmission, the new, front-wheel drive A4 2.0 TDI S tronic runs the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 8.7 seconds, and goes on to a top speed of 220 km/h.

Shod with 245/35R-19 low-profile tires, the new A4 2.0 TDI S tronic has a stance that exudes confidence on the road. The front and rear designs are characterized by horizontal lines that emphasize the car’s width, while the flowing design with concise lines communicates the sporty elegance of Audi. The single-frame grille is broad and flat, which, along with the LED headlights and LED daytime running lights, provide the visual Audi trademark.

The all-new A4 2.0 TDI S tronic is characterized by its impressively well-balanced sportiness: sprightly and performance-oriented on one hand, while comfortable and luxurious on the other. The highly developed and refined chassis and steering system is claimed to filter out unwanted car movements brought about by road imperfections while still offering feedback to the driver through the 3-spoke, leather-wrapped, paddle-shift-equipped multi-function sports steering wheel.

This advancement in performance is based on Audi’s newly-developed five-link suspension and power steering system. Extremely lightweight, they lay the foundation for the dynamic behavior and first-class ride comfort of the all-new A4, and at the same time, reduce its fuel consumption.

The interior, on the other hand, features all of the strengths typical of the Ingolstadt brand—superb workmanship, finely coordinated colors and materials, and logical, intuitive controls.

Operation has also become even more intuitive with Audi drive select and the new Audi MMI Navigation Plus. Located on the center console, the MMI control has been redesigned, and serves as the main control element. A touchpad is integrated in the MMI control panel for the infotainment system, which is composed of the MMI Navigation Plus with MMI Touch, and a 7-inch multimedia interface.

The Audi virtual cockpit, being a fully digital instrument cluster, presents the most important information in graphic form on its high-resolution 12.3-inch LCD screen with brilliant resolution, a high level of detail, and carefully designed effects.

The all-new Audi A4 also sets standards in its class thanks to numerous safety and assistance systems. Dual front airbags are complemented by front side airbags and full curtain airbags, while Park Assist, Parking Aid Plus, Service Indicator, and Flat Tire Indicator round out the package.

Its new design, technologies, generous features, and confidence-inspiring performance make the all-new Audi A4 2.0 TDI S tronic an even more formidable contender in the compact executive premium sedan class.

Alongside the new Audi A4 2.0 TDI S tronic, Audi Philippines also presented the new Audi A7 3.0 TFSI quattro S-Line and the new Audi Q3.

The Sportback in the local Audi lineup, the new Audi A7 3.0 TFSI quattro S-Line is propelled by a 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine that delivers 333 hp and 440 Nm of torque, coursed through a 7-speed, S tronic dual-clutch transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. This powerhouse brings the car from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, and to a top speed of 250 km/h.

The new Audi A7 boasts of Audi Drive Select and new LED headlights and taillights, and being an S-Line, has sportier bumpers and a rear diffuser, and is wrapped in 265/35R-20 tires for that aggressive, custom look.

For the Ingolstadt-based carmaker’s fighter in the small premium SUV segment, the new Audi Q3 is powered by a 1.4 TFSI engine that offers 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque.

The engine features Audi’s highly-innovative cylinder on demand (COD) system, which reduces fuel consumption by up to 20 percent when the Q3 is driven moderately. At low to moderate load and engine speed, COD deactivates cylinders two and three by closing the valves, and shutting off fuel injection. The engine runs as a two-cylinder engine until the driver presses down harder on the gas pedal.

This front-wheel drive SUV has a six-speed, S tronic dual-clutch transmission that helps it go from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, and to a top speed of 204 km/h. It features a new hexagonal grille, as well as new LED daytime running lights and taillights.

Both refreshed, the new Audi A7 and Audi Q3 represent the four-ringed brand’s never-ending pursuit of advancement through technology.
