In keeping with the tradition of hosting a  birthday party with members of the local lifestyle media, Cebu City Marriott Hotel (CCMH)  recently hosted an intimate gathering over scents and savories. A variety of relaxing aromas welcomed the celebrants  as they made their way  to Gumamela Function Hall. General manager Patrick Carroll greeted guests and shared his excitement.

Nico Velasquez, marketing communications officer, reiterated the hotel’s commitment to showing genuine care by doing away with production numbers and performances and focusing instead  on each one’s wellness. This year, Cebu Marriott invited friends from Savvy Oilistas, a group of wellness enthusiasts aptly named for their love for essential oils.

Savvy Oilista’s Faith Teo, from Singapore, shared her personal experience with essential oils and how it has helped her regain and retain balance both at work and at home.

Pharmacist and independent distributor Eloise Hernandez explained the importance of each oil and what it does: lavender calms and soothes; peppermint for a quick perk-me-up and instant rejuvenation; Panaway, a mix of winter green and other hot oils, soothes tired and aching muscles; tea tree for mental clarity; peppermint for digestive and resperatory health; and lemongrass for circulation and home cleaning.

Soon enough, everyone was busy making their own concoctions — mixing the essential oils according to their needs and preferences — and coming up with delightful names like Lavender Dreams, Sleep Cookie, and Pain Away.

Executive chef Chachpol Suaisom prepared a sumptuous spread for lunch.

For starters, a smoked salmon in sweet corn pancake with dill and rocket oil was served followed by  lemongrass prawn salad and roasted tomato soup with crispy thyme Parmesan.   Main course was seared salmon with lemon onion mushroom, green pea, fresh ginger and sesame dressing. The meal was capped with pistachio and green tea cake with a side of fresh fruits.

The  attendees were  honored with a specially curated garden cake and their very own Young Living essential oils starter kit to continue their scents and essences wellness experience at home.
