OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star
A Thai Journey in the Crown Jewel of Mindanao

Marco Polo Davao director of sales and marketing Pearl Peralta-Maclang, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. president Ronald Go, Thai guest chef Nontra-Udon Buapha of Marco Polo Prince Hotel, Hong Kong, Indonesia consul general Berlian Napitupulu and Marco Polo Davao general manager Dottie Würgler-Cronin lead the ceremonial ribbon-cutting for the five-star hotel’s Thai Food Festival.

Marco Polo Davao recently held a Thai Food Festival at one of the hotel’s flagship restaurants, Café Marco. Led by general manager Dottie Würgler-Cronin and director of sales and marketing Pearl Peralta-Maclang, the only five-star hotel in Davao was flocked by esteemed members of the diplomatic corps as well as government officials. Leading the culinary team was Marco Polo Prince Hotel, Hong Kong chef Nontra-Udon Buapha, a Thai national who brought with him 38 years of culinary experience. “We are delighted to host this event as it is a very timely and great opportunity for us to know more about different cultures which includes their food, arts, music, especially our neighboring countries like Thailand,” Dottie Würgler-Cronin said. “This is a very great exposure not just for our culinary team but for Davao City as well.”

Flowers, Tea, and All Things Dainty at Marco Polo Davao

An afternoon of flowers, tea, and all things dainty went underway as Mindanao’s top wedding organizers, suppliers and florists gathered together to learn new techniques and approaches in events designing. Marco Polo Davao, under the leadership of general manager Dottie Würgler-Cronin and director of sales and marketing Pearl Peralta-Maclang, hosted the afternoon tea session led by Cameo Events owner and chief stylist Jade Polizon. The only five-star hotel in the Heart of Davao welcomed Renie Villanueva, an international florist from Dubai who was trained in Dutch floral design in Holland and has won several design competitions abroad. “We are supportive of this endeavor since Davao City is now being known in the international scene and we want to be in [the] frontline of new designs and art creations for event preparations,” Dottie Würgler-Cronin said. “Together with the artists and designers from Davao City, we aim to provide an international experience to our guests and clients.”
