In keeping with the tradition of celebrating US Independence, the American Chamber of Commerce Cebu hosted an entertaing evening for members and distinguished  guests  at the Waterfront Hotel.

This year, the civic club presented a talent show that featured eight individuals from different member companies showcasing their varied talents.

Prior to the much-anticipated show, AMCHAM president Jeff Minnick  welcomed the invitees and assured one and all of a fun evening. Club vice president Glenn Loop  introduced the guest of honor and speaker, Russel Brown, Consul General of the US Embassy in Manila.

Brown expounded on  the importance of the celebration that strengthens the deep historic ties which bind the two countries.

The extravaganza threw the spotlight on Victoria Anne Guingona, who did a beautiful opening number.  One by one, the finalists performed, giving  it their best amid applause and cheers.

The gifted untapped performers were the RS  Dance Team composed of Jindric Macapagal, Henry Campo, Ueni Rendon and Zaien Heart Zafra from  Savvysherpa company who placed third; team dancers Rhea Mondejar and Kenneth Illustracion from Harolds  Hotel placed 2nd; and singer Rolan Ancajas from Waterfront Hotel was 1st. The grand winner was George Miano from PEBA Trading  who enthralled  everyone with his powerful voice. Much of the success was due to the dedication of  Zaide Zafra, committee chairman of the event.

Distinguished judges  were lawyer Juril Broka Patiño, radio broadcaster Carlo Guzman Dugaduga, real estate developer Joanna Cuenco and chairman of the board of judges, globe trotter  Margo Frasco.

A fortnight later, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Philippines Sung Kim made his first visit to Cebu  to speak to the members of the American Chamber of Commerce during  their monthly meeting held at the Marriott Hotel.

The Ambassador highlighted US-Philippine partnerships in the region that strengthen the local economy and promote peace and stability. He likewise  expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and sincere friendliness that he received throughout his visit.
