Ricardo Preto, a celebrated Portuguese fashion designer, joins a long line of international designers who have brought high fashion to the high-end market through the country’s luxury retailer, Rustan’s.
Known for his use of structured fabrics, minimalist lines and fitted silhouettes, Preto brings fresh takes of his much-applauded design philosophy with his effortlessly stylish clothes.
Extending his presence in Cebu, Preto unveiled his exclusive collection through a styling session that featured two designs of the same style persona. The Ricardo Preto Exclusive for Rustan’s showcases looks that are very put together and meant for sophisticated urban dressing, while the U by Ricardo Preto collections aim to achieve a more easy and casual feel.
Guests were delighted to be styled by the designer himself, and were impressed by his unmatched expertise in mixing and matching pieces. Ricardo Preto’s collections have a timelessness that transcends seasons, ideal for confident men and women who know what works best for them.
“In my collections, there is a mix of very tailored pieces and very comfortable ones because in this era, how you style an outfit makes all the difference and builds the character of your look,” said Ricardo. “I do not design for a specific age because I want it to be for all. I want clothes that can be worn from day to night, any day of the week.”
Having always dreamt of working on collaborations in Asia, he believes that Filipino men and women should be given access to clothes that fit well, as his clients do in Europe. His designs use lightweight fabrics that evoke a sense of ease and comfort. His sartorial vision is a perfect match to Rustan’s brand aesthetics, highlighting quality pieces within reasonable price points. Ricardo Preto provides a youthful spirit in his outfits that prove luxury and basics can co-exist.
