Fashion show with a heart

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

The Consular Corps of the Philippines recently organized a fashion show, “with an international heart” at the New World Makati Hotel. Monaco Consul General and Consular Corps of the Philippines dean Fortune Ledesma thanked Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay, the members of the Senate and the diplomatic and consular corps, and prominent business personalities for supporting “Fashion Harmony,” a charity event held for the benefit of abandoned and abused children, the elderly, scholars, and victims of calamities.   Besides having an interesting mix of fashion designs, the presentation featured esteemed figures as models.

An unforgettable mission

Seven talented and aspiring musician scholars of the non-stock, non-profit corporation Ang Misyon Inc. (AMI), founded by Federico Lopez and Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz, experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as they were selected to go on the first International Awareness & Educational Tour in the United States. Collectively known as Orchestra of the Filipino Youth Strings Quorum, scholars Axelle Miel, Ryan Rodriguez, Germain Gomez, Vera Mei Cuevas, Sophia Chua, Jovilyn Balilo and Paolo Imperial had six concerts in New York, New Jersey and Washington D.C. The group also had several coaching sessions with the best classical musicians based in the US, attended social functions with Filipino diplomats and held workshops for their younger counterparts.
