Discounts and demos at Shangri-La Plaza beauty & wellness fair
The health and fitness craze is definitely at its peak, with most everyone I know hitting the gym, doing yoga, juicing, detoxing, cleansing, or having healthy food delivered to their house.
Keenly aware of this, the folks at Shangri-La Plaza are celebrating the mall’s 25th year with “A Heart for Health,” a health, beauty and wellness fair showcasing the newest tenants in the mall’s East Atrium.
From Aug. 18 to 21, brands like Crabtree & Evelyn will be offering great deals like 30 percent off all items on display, and free fitness classes from JNA Dance & Fitness Center. Aromatherapy workshops and healthy food demos in a Zen indoor garden setup with live music are also on offer.
A brand-new tenant participating in the fair is Bowmanbear Barber Shop, which is not just a barbershop for kids but “pampering central” for the whole family. Yes, that means shaves for dad, mani-pedis for mom, facials and foot spas for kids, and haircuts and spa-worthy massages for everybody. Calling itself a “full-service luxury and retail pamper-myself shop for men and women,” Bowmanbear Barber Shop is located on the lower ground level of Shangri-La Plaza.
Are you into the green, organic lifestyle? Certified Calm carries all your apparel and accessory needs for yoga and fitness, with a product mix sourced only from companies that have eco-friendly and fair-labor practices. Personally I love their Klean Kanteen thermoses and food containers, which keep your beverages and food cold or hot for hours. Check out their yoga brands Manduka, Beyond Yoga, and Easyoga as well, not to mention ToeSox Onezie, Liquido, and ChicoBag. Certified Calm is located on Level 3 of Shang’s Main Wing.
Detoxify Bar is an organic juice bar, detox center and gourmet restaurant in one. Sparked by the juicing movement and run by husband-and-wife team Paul and Joy, Detoxify provides detox juices for one- to five-day cleanses and healthy meals. For the fair they will also have a workshop about our current toxic lifestyles and how to clean them up. Detoxify Bar is located on Level 5 of the Main Wing.
Botanifique carries skincare from Israel developed by botanical specialists and natural therapists. Harnessing plant essences via steam distillation, which preserves the ingredients’ beneficial properties and keeps the formulas chemical-free, Botanique has skincare ranges for everyday care, moisturizing, lightening, anti-acne, and men.
Maizie, a local fragrance crafter, was entranced by the power of scent to evoke memories so she founded Scents & Sensibilities, which specializes in artfully handcrafted fragrances for body and home. In addition to body colognes, dry oil mists and eau de toilettes, also in-store are soy candles and reed and stone fragrance diffusers. Courtesy of S&S you can learn soy candle making at the fair. JNA Dance & Fitness Center offers the new fitness trend Piloxing (a high-energy workout combining Pilates, boxing and dance), as well as dance pop and ballet for kids and adults, hip-hop, Zumba (toning and fitness), yoga, jazz, and taekwondo. Fair goers can participate in a free Piloxing class today at 4 p.m. and a free Zumba class tomorrow at 5 p.m. at the East Atrium, Mid-Level 2-3 of the East Wing. The main studio itself is located on Level 5 of the Main Wing.
New tenants Skin 101 and Ride Revolution will be joining the fair today. Skin 101 is a dermatological clinic, while Ride Revolution, which will open at the mall in September, is a cycling studio capitalizing on the new cycling trend.
Also featured at the fair are Headzone, the only carrier of Balmain products in the Philippines; Rustan’s Department Store with its selection of juicers, coffeemakers, and beauty brands; Beauty Bar and The Body Shop, which will showcase their beauty products and skincare lines; Healthy Options, with its wholesome foods and supplements; Nail Spa, which recently renovated and sports an elegant new look; and the newly opened Belo Medical Center.
