Boundless art

Spanish artist and jeweler Cristina Grisar Brias recently held her first solo exhibit entitled, “The Bejewelled Cosmos: Paintings, Jewellery & Photographs From This And Other Worlds,” at the ArtistSpace of Ayala Museum. The granddaughter of our good friend, well-known painter Betsy Westendorp de Brias, Cristina is indeed an artist to watch.  As art critic Cid Reyes wrote, her paintings allow “to transmit one person’s sense of a private universe, with their own felicities of construction and color and, most of all, feelings and sentiments.”  Cristina’s painting genius extends to her jewelry that are literally sculptural pieces, and photographs that are actually snapshots of her view of the cosmos. Cristina’s proficiency in the three art forms makes her unmistakably a versatile artist prodigy.
