Camping in November

Julie Cabatit-Alegre - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Camping is a unique pre-Christmas activity. We normally think of it as an outdoor activity done during the long, hot summer months, when the kids are on their break from school. Who would think of bringing the family on an outdoor adventure at the tail end of November, right into the heart of the Christmas season?

Ayala Land did, and the unique camping adventure in Porac, Pampanga, promises to be a holiday celebration like no other.

The Christmas-themed camping festival will be held on Nov. 28 and 29 at the SandBox in Alviera, Ayala Land’s first master-planned estate in the north. There will be four fun tents featuring different activities that you and your kids can participate in. You can decorate your own Christmas cookies with candy sprinkles, icing, and fondant ornaments at the Christmas Cookie Corner. At the Merry Angel-Making tent, paint and decorate cornhusk angels to hang on your Christmas tree. Or paint and add tails to your own Christmas lanterns during the Parol-Making session. Test your Christmas trivia knowledge in Quiz Kringle and win instant treats and raffle coupons.

Enjoy the exciting rides and attractions of SandBox all day long, such as the First Roller Coaster Zip Line in Asia, the Air Walk’s hanging obstacle course, or the Tallest Giant Swing in the Philippines.

You can avail of the Day Dasher package, at P1,900 per person, which includes round-trip transportation from Manila to Alviera, free use of SandBox attractions, access to all Christmas Jamboree Day Workshops, as well as passes to the evening entertainment, stage shows and Starlight Cinema featuring Christmas movie favorites from 9 p.m. until midnight.

The Christmas Camper package at P2,850 per person entitles you to all Day Dasher inclusions, plus an overnight campsite stay, free use of Coleman tents,  access to campsite-exclusive activities such as a bonfire with S’mores at the campsite, ukulele jam sessions while enjoying hot tsokolate served with biscocho, and a grilled set dinner and buffet breakfast on Sunday morning as well as exclusive use of SandBox on the morning of day two.

“With the Christmas Jamboree camping adventure, we want to bring people closer to nature,” said Alviera general manager John Estacio. “Awareness leads to appreciation, that will lead to preservation. Alviera is here not merely to create an economic hub but also to make sure that the natural beauty of Porac is preserved and highlighted. Our role as a developer is to simply enhance God’s gift to us.”

Alviera is a 1,100-hectare integrated mixed-use development of Ayala Land in partnership with Leonio Land in picturesque Porac, Pampanga, with hilly terrain and a gentle plain through which the Porac River flows.  It is envisioned to be the growth center of Central Luzon that’s easily accessible, with available infrastructure as well as a large pool of educated manpower.

“The Alviera Christmas Jamboree gives you a glimpse of what to expect in Alviera in the future,” Estacio said. “Even at full development, there will be open spaces for everyone to enjoy. More importantly, we want to provide opportunities where families can create moments they can share together. It’s inspired by a philosophy of harmonious balance between nature and urban living.”
