Festival Supermall named in ‘50 Coolest Malls in the World’

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Festival Supermall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City has earned the 33rd spot in the City Guide section of international lifestyle website Complex.com’s list of ‘’50 Coolest Malls in the World.’’

Complex.com is the online counterpart of the American men’s magazine Complex. Complex.com ranked different malls across the globe based on the quality of stores, amusement attractions, and ambience.

Established in 2002 by designer Mark Ecko, Complex targets men from college age to early 30s and features the latest on niche topics such as men’s fashion, street wear, sneaker culture, and graphic art. The City Guide section compiles the latest news and human interest stories from all over the globe. It is also well-known for its Top 10, Top 20, and Top 50 lists.

Festival Supermall made it to the Coolest Malls list published on July 18. At the 33rd spot, the mall has been described by Complex as “the grown-up version of (restaurant chain and family amusement center) Chuck E. Cheese’s and (theme park) Six Flags smashed into one.”

The website goes on to say that they featured Festival Supermall for letting shoppers “cross off everything in their ‘Fun’ to-do list.” From bowling and billiards, to ten state-of-the-art cinemas, to the indoor roller coaster with the highest and longest drop in the Philippines at X-Site, to rides for kids, to karaoke and bingo — Festival Supermall has it all.

The mall is also home to over 700 specialty stores catering to your every need. Moreover, it is the only mall with five anchor stores: Shopwise Supercenter, SaveMore, Robinsons Department Store, Ace Hardware and Handyman.

Festival Supermall is also about to get even cooler with exciting expansion plans set to refresh the shopping experience in the South. The mall will be building an additional 110,000 square meters.

If the thrilling roller coaster ride isn’t your thing, then perhaps, a boat ride around the mall is more to your liking. That’s possible with River Park, a 2,518 square meter natural feature slated to be the mall’s centerpiece already under construction and is set to open in November 2013. River Park includes a cluster of dining outlets with an amphitheater, and a preview of the water gardens also under construction. The main attraction is a 1.5-km live creek surrounding the mall.A 1.4 hectare open space in the middle of the entire development will make use of the natural terrain of the former Alabang Stock Farm to form a promontory that overlooks the water feature with boat rides and landscaped gardens.

“River Park will add a new dimension in family dining. It boasts of a lush natural gardens and the live creek,” says George Domingo business development head of Filinvest Alabang, Inc. “Imagine dining in such a lovely space.”

Not only is Festival Supermall “cool,” as in uniquely fun, it also promises to stay cool in the literal sense by using the best of nature for the expansion.

“We’re always aiming to improve Festival Supermall so that our shoppers will really enjoy the shopping experience. A huge part of their enjoyment at the mall is the surroundings, so this is definitely something we prioritize,” says Nuqui.

Festival Supermall is in Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
