Drunk attacks female cop

MANILA, Philippines - A drunk man was arrested after he allegedly attacked a policewoman in Quezon City on Sunday, police said yesterday.

Police charged Edgardo Jumao-as, 25, with unjust vexation and violation of a city ordinance on possession of a deadly weapon.

Police Officer 1 Michelle Ram dela Paz, 28, was driving her motorcycle along Gen. Francisco street in Barangay Bagong Silangan at around 10 p.m. when Jumao-as blocked her path, according to a report from the Batasan police station.

Jumao-as then pulled out a kitchen knife and tried to grab Dela Paz by the collar but she avoided the attack.

Dela Paz then sought the assistance of fellow police officers who were on routine patrol in apprehending the suspect.
