New EPD chief assumes post today

MANILA, Philippines — Chief Superintendent Rey Biay will take over as director of the Eastern Police District (EPD) today.

Biay will assume the post du-ring turnover rites at the EPD headquarters along Caruncho Avenue in Pasig City at around 7:30 a.m.

He replaced Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, who was reassigned to Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) after its director, Chief Superintendent Carlo Collado, retired from the police service on Saturday.

Prior to assuming the EPD post, Biay was the deputy director for administration of PRO1.

He is a classmate of Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa and Director Oscar Albayalde, head of the National Capital Region Police Office. They belong to the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1986.
