Teen, grandpa shot dead in Navotas
MANILA, Philippines — A 15-year-old boy and his grandfather were gunned down in Barangay Tangos, Navotas City Thursday night.
Kenneth Maglonzo’s father said his son went outside to buy cigarettes at around 10 p.m. but he heard gunshots several minutes after the boy left.
The father said he found his son lying in a pool of blood on the street and the grandfather, Fernando de Cruz, 66, dead in his shanty several meters away.
Witnesses said four men carrying Maglonzo’s photo were walking around looking for the boy several minutes before the attack.
Barangay Tangos executive officer Randy Bacolod said the target was Maglonzo and his grandfather was shot because he saw the attack from his window.
Earlier, Maglonzo was reportedly involved in a riot in a neighboring barangay and was among a group of teenagers who were accosted and taken to Barangay San Roque for questioning.
Threats were reportedly exchanged during the confrontation as Maglonzo tried to explain his involvement in the riot.
